Standing Committee on the Environment, Climate Change and Biodiversity

01 February 2021

I was appointed Chair of the Standing Committee for the Environment, Climate Change and Biodiversity (ECCB) in February 2021. I take this work very seriously and am honoured to play a role in helping ensure the future environmental sustainability for the ACT and beyond.

The ECCB Committee is responsible for examining the following areas:

  • Climate change
  • Climate action
  • Environment
  • Heritage
  • Water and energy policy and programs
  • Emissions reductions
  • Environment and ecological sustainability
  • Commissioner for the Environment
  • Environment Protection Agency

The work of Assembly Committees is critical in holding Government to account, inquiring into matters of public importance and questioning government actions and expenditure.

The committee meets regularly. We investigate relevant pieces of legislation before they're debated, consider relevant petitions brought to the Assembly, and hold inquiries into matters such as environmental volunteerism, renewable energy and the ACT Budget.
