Canberra: A National Park City?

03 June 2021

I moved a motion in the Assembly calling on the Government to investigate whether there would be benefits associated with applying to become a National Park City.

The National Park City Foundation was estanlished to recognise cities in which government, business, and community work together for improved relationships between people and nature. There is no fee for an application, and it places no restriction on planning processes.

There may be opportunities to leverage the potential status as a National Park City. In a skills shortage, Canberra should take every opportunity to differentiate itself from the other states and territories.
